Thermostat in Exercise Room

Postby runner70 » Sat Mar 06, 2010 8:50 am

Can someone please explain who decided to set the temperature in the workout room on 72. Why doesn't the standard 68 in the winter, 72 in the summer apply. 72 is way too hot when your exercising. I had to open some windows to cool off the other day because the thermostat is locked. Why are we wasting energy and home owners' money needlessly.

Perhaps we're in the minority, but I too would prefer it too be cooler. On rainy days I use the treadmills and 72 is much too hot for me.

Several months ago, after a Master board meeting, we went in the exercise room to look at the progress being made on the renovation, and it was on 72 degrees then. Plus it was extremely humid in there; enough that the windows had lots of condensation on them. We all thought it was too hot and so did the lady who was in there exercising. I assumed Larry Daly, our property manager, was going to take care of it. Why don't you call his assistant as the clubhouse about it. The complaints about the temperature in the exercise room have bubbled up to the HOA Board. The Liaison to the Social Committee, Maureen Menko, is looking into the problem. I expect that you will see some change soon.

Seems like the on-site manager could have taken care of that without it having to go all the way to the Board. Wonder if anyone called her.

72 is not too hot. The problem is the humidity, and it appears that A/C unit doesn't do a good job in de-humidifying the room. There are several things you can do to resolve that. If you can't stand to sweat a little, one wonders why you bother working out at all?

Clawrence, note that this thread began in MARCH when the HEAT was set to 72. As of late the workout room temp has been fine. And if you don't mind a little sweat, why would YOU care how humid it is? :D
