if you are on cool spring/ Oxford glenn and looking to turn onto mcewen then standard road rules apply. It is no different if you are driving one way and need to turn left across opposing traffic you have to wait till traffic clears. think of it this way, if you are on liberty pike going east bound and you need to turn left you will not turn when there is a car coming, you wait until it is clear

I'm concerned about who has the right of way between cars headed southbound on Oxford Glen (Cool Springs) turning left onto McEwen and cars headed northbound on Oxford Glen into the roundabout. This seems like a collision waiting to happen as it looks like there are no signs planned for either. Who yields?

I also think that the south entrance to the roundabout should be widened to 2 lanes. One lane (the left) should flow from Oxford Glen. The other (right) lane should flow directly from McEwen with no stop on McEwen.

I agree with you Linda. The roundabouts in Europe are larger and handle the traffic much better. Too bad it's not the size of the one by the pool.

Exactly. Problem really isn't being solved. The backup is from those turning left from CSB to McEwen.

If there is a STOP or YIELD sign on south bound Cool Springs to turn left on McEwen... wouldn't that just create the backup we are dealing with now? I mean, the backup today is mostly of those waiting to turn left onto McEwen anyways.

Also, with no stop sign at McEwen, those people heading south on Oxford Glen are just going to make our little Liberty roundabout a nightmare. It will be like a race way!

i would assume it is the same thing as if you are crossing on coming traffic along any road. You don't turn until it is clear

First, the new McEwen road looks great. The efforts to improve Carothers, Cool Springs Blvd, and McEwen for traffic, runners, and bikers are much appreciated. As one who frequently travels on McEwen, several concerns continue unresolved.

1. Frankly, I hate to see another bandaid "interim" solution that has no timeline defined on when this will be reverted back.

This project has been going since 2007...5 years. How quick was Carothers expanded for Nissan...hmmm.

2. When will East McEwen be opened up fully to Wilson Pike? Construction seems to have idled out again. The deer are nice, but let's get it done.

3. If Franklin can afford traffic lights at the Carothers/McEwen, Carothers/Cool Springs Blvd, and Oxford Glen/Clovercroft intersections, why can we not just get rid of this big roundabout and replace it with a full service functioning light?

4. Forcing right turns only from west-bound McEwen and then taking the loop just to go south on Oxford Glen to Publix, Walgreens, or back to Liberty would likely increase congestion in the loop and possibly reduce revenue opportunities for those business which have been willing to invest in McKays Mills commercial locations.

5. Monica has a good point. Please consider creating an extra right turn lane off west-bound McEwen and keep left hand turning regulated by the stop sign.

This could help at several times of the day, and we already have to tear up the ground to prepare for McEwen to continue to Wilson Pike anyway.

6. To improve safety for runners, walkers, etc, please consider adding a sidewalk all the way up the hill on Oxford Glen. Remove the bushes if needed.

7. To improve safety for runners, walkers, bikers, please add sidewalk or biking lanes to East McEwen. Warning signs are needed at least in the interim.

8. Please remove the bushes on the right side of Oxford Glen at the corner of McEwen. The bushes block visibility at the corner.

9. Stop / yield signage needed for either South bound on Cool Springs to turn left on East McEwen or North bound on Oxford Glen.

10. When is the next meeting for the final decision?

11. Please identify achievable timelines.
