Pool Opens May 19th

The pool will be open beginning May 19th. Please take a moment to visit the Pool Information Page for rules, hours and other details. Most every year there are issues with pool cards because of new owners or lost cards so if you try your card and it does not work please go to the clubhouse and talk with our Property Manager in order to get card issues resolved. Office hours are from 10-4 Mon, Tues, Thurs, Friday. Remember, all residents should sign in at the gate when first entering the pool area. Thank you and look forward to having a great pool season!

SUBJECT: Discussions Concerning the Intersection of McEwen Drive & Oxford Glen Drive

Purpose

The purpose of this memo is to discuss the proposed improvements at the Intersection of McEwen Drive & Oxford Glen Drive.

Background

The intersection of McEwen Drive & Oxford Glen Drive operated under All-Way Stop Control since the 2007 opening of Oxford Glen Drive between McKay’s Mill and the Cool Springs Boulevard roundabout. The west leg of this intersection was closed in 2008 to enable earthwork for Liberty Park and the McEwen Drive Phase 3 Project. Since 2007 traffic volumes on Cool Springs Boulevard / Oxford Glen Drive and McEwen Drive have grown substantially. With the April 13, 2012 opening of McEwen Drive Phase 3 Project the City has received complaints about extreme traffic delays at the Intersection of McEwen Drive & Oxford Glen Drive. Counts taken in April 2012 after the opening of McEwen Phase 3 revealed that the All-Way Stop Control results in failed Levels of Service (LOS F) during both the morning and afternoon peak hours. This finding has prompted the Engineering Department to seek alternatives for traffic control at this intersection until the temporary connector road can be completed.

Existing All Way Stop Condition

AM: westbound LOS F, maximum queue 3000 feet

AM: southbound LOS C, maximum queue 550 feet

PM: westbound LOS B, maximum queue 200 feet

PM: southbound LOS F, maximum queue 3000 feet

Proposed Alternate: Two-way Stop on McEwen Drive, with interim channelization for westbound right-turn only. All westbound traffic would turn right and then proceed through the roundabout to their desired direction, with special signing To South Oxford Glen Drive.

AM: westbound LOS F, maximum queue 900 feet

AM: southbound left LOS A, maximum queue 25 feet

PM: westbound LOS B, maximum queue 50 feet

PM: southbound left LOS B, maximum queue 100 feet

Financial Impact

The financial Impacts will be minimal and come out of the Street Department’s annual maintenance budget.

Recommendation

Staff recommends implementing the proposed alternate.

So the way I understand it, McEwen traffic looking to drive east bound Oxford Glenn will have to go west bound Cool Springs to the traffic circle and make the loop. There will be no left hand turns off of McEwen. Oxford Glenn/Cool Springs will have NO stop sign and will have the right away.

McKay’s Mill Swim Team Registration

If you would like to spend the summer swimming and making great friend join the McKay’s Mill swim team. Children who are 4years old and up can be on the swim team as long as they can swim the width of the pool unassisted. Swim team runs May 29^th through July 14^th. Spring Yard Sale set for May 5th

Yard sales in McKay’s Mill are held 2 times a year. This year’s first yard sale is set for May 5th. Please take advantage of the opportunity to participate and get a few extra bucks in your pocket.

The City of Franklin requires you obtain a permit if you are going to participate. You can get a permit by going to the city hall in downtown Franklin or online by visiting the City of Franklin Website

April Music in the Mill April 14th

Performing at Music in the Mill on April 14th at 7 p.m. (At the Clubhouse) is “Paul umbach and the Wineauxs” . Paul is a community resident and former Jive Records Producer , A&R and has worked with Brittany Spears, Aaron Carter and many others. Hes Currently working with previous CMT Duet winners ” Steel Magnolia. A must see evening with fine wine provided by our favorite “Franklin wine and Spirits”.

Tree Planting Volunteers Needed this weekend (April 1st @ 12PM)

The Harpeth Valley Watershed Association is driving a program to help plant trees along creek and river banks to help stop erosion and help add additional landscape to such areas. They have contacted our HOA about an opportunity to provide saplings to plant along the creek in front of the clubhouse and they are asking for volunteers to help. These are small sapling so it will not take much work to plant and it would be great to get kids involved as well. We know it is short notice but it was brought to our attention this week and is a great opportunity to help add some more natural beauty to our neighborhood. Not to mention pride knowing you have contributed something of great value that will be enjoyed for generations here in our community.

There will be a tent near the clubhouse parking lot that the HRWA will set up and show you where and how the sapplings should be planted.
Again, sorry for the inconvenience but please take a few minutes this Sunday April 1st to help out for a great opportunity. .
